The DC Dream Center
1995
The Beginning
Two men named Sammie Morrison and Scott Dimock had a vision for a community house in southeast Washington DC. By unusual circumstance, they were gifted a house located at 2909 Pennsylvania Ave. SE and they decided to start serving the community from the home.
1996
Mentoring Program Launches
The Southeast White House begins hosting weekly reconciliation luncheons and starts its mentoring program with two mentors and 16 children.
2001
Kids Program Begins
The Southeast White House launches two new traditions: regular prayer breakfasts and a new set of programs designed for kids.
2012
A New Partnership
A partnership between the Southeast White House and the National Community Church lays the groundwork for a new community center, the DC Dream Center.
2015
Construction Begins
Construction on the DC Dream Center’s new facility begins.
2017
A Dream Realized
The DC Dream Center is opened by Mayor Bowser on August 23, 2017.
